Here is a
pic of prairie smoke seed heads: We had thought these were prairie smoke flowers
until Naturalist Diana* corrected us when we visited the Eloise Butler
Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary on 100515. In fact, these
are prairie smoke seed heads. The name, “Prairie Smoke” comes from these seed
heads, which resemble smoke. Click
here to see a pic of prairie smoke flowers.
