April (MLB begins, Final Four, Frozen Four, The Masters, Boston Marathon, Tax Day, NBA & NHL Playoffs, Easter, Earth Day, etc.)

It’s spring!  Usually, lake ice-out occurs in Minnesota during this month.
The sun gets stronger and the day gets longer. Grass becomes greener and spring flowers begin to bloom. You can observe the spring bird migration. It’s time to get out.

Early April, March Madness (NCAA College Basket Tournament) culminates with the Final Four. It looks like quite a few people have fun with office pools betting on March Madness. On the other hand, the NCAA College Hockey season ends with the Frozen Four.  See details below

On the first Sunday in April (Opening Day is 080331 for most teams) , the MLB (Major League Baseball) regular season begins.

2nd Sun. in April:  The Masters, Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, Georgia (GA)  Tiger Woods won his first Masters a decade ago. Since then he has won the Maters four times.

The NBA (Pro Basketball) and NHL (Pro Hockey) regular seasons are winding down, and the NBA and NHL (Stanley Cup) playoffs begin.

NHL Playoffs (Stanley Cup Playoffs)    Letter: 60, 158, 120

Easter Sunday (March or April): Lent, which began on Ash Wednesday (Day after Mardi Gras), will be over on Holy Saturday. Around this time of the year, Churches are busy with many activities such as Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday), Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday. Easter is one of the two most important holidays for Christians (The other one is Christmas): Jesus Christ's Birth (Christmas Day, December 25th), his Crucifixion (Easter – Good Friday) and Resurrection (Easter – Easter Sunday).  See details below.

Mid-April, it’s tax return time. Everybody, who has earned an income, must complete his/her tax returns (which are usually due by April 15th). Some people will have professional tax advisers complete the tax forms for them while others use tax preparation software. A few “brave” people will complete their tax forms with no help at all.  See details below.

Boston Marathon

April also has Earth Day and Arbor Day.
