Dave says, “Blue Ridge is the name of the ridge.  It's not well known except around here.  Brush Mountain is the name of the mountain – named because of the brush (thick shrubs and chaparral) that cover much of the mountain.  The slide is an avalanche of rock and dirt that resulted from uplifting along the San Andreas fault*. This slide does not have a name -- I called it that because it's one of several that have occurred in Santiago Canyon.” “Dave, thanks so much for answering our questions. We didn’t know why the slide was formed. Really interesting.” April 16, 2011
