A typical letter from a child would be addressed:
Santa Claus
The North Pole
and that's about it.

Here is a sample letter.

Dear Santa,
I have been a good boy/girl this year.  I know you and your elves are busy, but I was hoping you had time to send me some presents.  I want:

*List of the items the child wants*

Could you send me some of these for Christmas. Thank You!

*Child's Name*

I believe the post office does not return these, and may even send a reply in some cases.  I'm not sure, but they may send back a form letter.  However, I don't know how to check whether this is true.  There is a special mailbox for kids to send there letters to at the Maplewood Community Center in Minnesota.  The children can either drop off their letters at the Community Center or mail them to 2100 White Bear Ave., Maplewood, MN 55109.  They also request that you include your address in the letter.  Visit their site at < www.ci.maplewood.mn.us >
