“Sundog (Mock sun) *. A sundog appears on the
left side of
the sun late in the afternoon. You can sometimes spot a pair of colored spots on both sides of the sun.
Sundogs form when sunlight is refracted by ice crystals in cirrus clouds, which
are one of high clouds --- at or above 6000 m (20,000 feet). This pic was
